Senior Database Engineer

Job Summary

To enhance the performance and scalability of a business-critical Azure/.NET platform, the remote contract Senior Database Engineer will analyze production database performance, optimize SQL configurations, and collaborate with application engineers on performance issues.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze production database performance using Query Store, execution plans, and application telemetry
• Review and enhance SQL Server/Azure SQL configurations, indexing, and query patterns
• Collaborate with .NET teams to address Entity Framework performance challenges and identify database bottlenecks

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with SQL Server and/or Azure SQL in production environments
• Strong hands-on experience in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization
• Experience supporting .NET/C#/Entity Framework applications
• Proficient in Azure SQL, App Service integrations, and related monitoring tools
• Experience in regulated industries such as insurance, fintech, or banking
