Senior Database Reliability Engineer

Job Summary

Owning the health, performance, and cost-efficiency of production databases, the full-time Senior Database Reliability Engineer will manage database reliability, optimize query performance, and educate engineering teams while working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the reliability, performance, and availability of all production databases (Aurora MySQL on AWS)
• Manage database alerting end to end, including building and maintaining the observability pipeline for database metrics
• Dive deep into problematic queries to diagnose, optimize, and drive down latency and load

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years in database reliability engineering, administration, or engineering with ownership of production systems at scale
• Deep MySQL expertise, including query optimization and replication, with Aurora MySQL experience preferred
• Hands-on experience operating large Aurora or RDS clusters at terabyte scale
• Strong command of database observability tooling such as Datadog and Performance Insights
• Proficiency in a scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
