Senior Database Reliability Engineer
Job Summary
Owning the availability, recoverability, and performance of SQL Server platforms, the full-time remote Senior Database Reliability Engineer will manage a newly acquired SQL Server estate, ensuring it is dependable, observable, and scalable while leading incident response and disaster recovery efforts.
Key responsibilities
- Manage high availability, backup strategies, and performance tuning for SQL Server environments
- Lead incident response for database-layer events, including triage, mitigation, and post-incident reviews
- Automate processes for provisioning, patching, and maintenance using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Python
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in production database engineering with operational ownership of a 24x7 environment
- Expertise in SQL Server 2016+ including Always On availability groups and failover clustering
- Experience with AWS SQL Server implementations and at least one on-prem-to-cloud migration
- Proficiency in advanced T-SQL, execution plans, and indexing strategies
- Ability to communicate proactively with stakeholders regarding system performance and issues
