Senior Director of Data Engineering

Job Summary

To lead the strategic vision and execution of data and AI engineering initiatives, the full-time Senior Director of Data Engineering will manage a high-performing team, drive innovation in AI solutions, and ensure compliance within a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the strategic roadmap for data engineering and AI capabilities within R&D, aligning with business objectives
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable data engineering solutions and AI applications for R&D needs
• Build and mentor a collaborative team while managing budgets, resources, and project timelines for data and AI initiatives

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in data engineering, AI/ML, and Gen AI, with at least 5 years in senior technical leadership roles
• Strong experience in architecting and maintaining large-scale data and AI solutions in a regulated environment, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
• Proven track record of implementing Gen AI and large language model applications in production environments
• Master's degree in Mathematical, Engineering, or Scientific disciplines; PhD preferred
• Expertise in real-world data assets and their application in generating scientific evidence
