Senior Director of IP Counsel

Job Summary

Leading the development and execution of a comprehensive intellectual property strategy, the full-time Senior Director of IP Counsel will serve as the primary legal advisor for patents, trademarks, and copyrights, managing a small team and collaborating cross-functionally in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and execute corporate patent strategy, overseeing patent filing and maintenance activities globally
• Champion the adoption of AI-powered legal tools and establish governance standards for their use within the IP team
• Provide strategic leadership and counsel on trademark, copyright, and IP transactions, ensuring alignment with business objectives

Required qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• Minimum of 15 years of intellectual property law experience, preferably with in-house experience at a technology company
• Demonstrated experience managing global patent and trademark portfolios and outside counsel relationships
• Technical background in computer science, software engineering, or data analytics is a strong plus
• Fluency in the IP landscape for artificial intelligence, including patent strategies for ML and generative AI
