Senior Editor in Biology

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Senior Editor in Biology, this remote position will manage the Commentary section, focusing on inviting, editing, and publishing Perspectives in biology while collaborating with multimedia teams to enhance scientific communication.

Key responsibilities

• Invite, edit, and publish Perspectives weekly in Science, including handling peer-review processes
• Manage Expert Voices columns and other opinion pieces while networking with the scientific community to identify topics and authors
• Collaborate with Visuals and Media teams to create engaging graphics and multimedia content

Required qualifications

• A PhD and postdoctoral research experience in a relevant field
• At least five years of experience as a commissioning editor with a track record of meeting deadlines and editing for accessibility
• Familiarity with publishing and editing software, including MS Office and Adobe Professional
• Comprehensive knowledge of scientific research methods to engage with authors on technical issues
• Exceptional outreach skills to identify and select top authors for the journal
