Senior Engineering Manager

Job Summary

The full-time Senior Engineering Manager will lead the Observability Platform team in building and executing a centralized platform strategy that provides comprehensive visibility across Smartsheet's engineering systems, while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers to develop a unified observability stack for all engineering teams
• Own the technical roadmap and ensure adherence to platform standards and architectural direction
• Drive the design and delivery of centralized observability infrastructure and AI/ML observability integrations

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of software or platform engineering experience, with a focus on distributed systems and backend services
• 3 years of engineering management experience, including team building and cross-functional delivery ownership
• Deep expertise with observability tools such as Datadog, OpenSearch, and distributed tracing
• Experience operating observability platforms in high-availability production environments
• Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional infrastructure programs
