Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Senior Forward Deployed Engineer will partner with state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments to modernize a cloud-based disease surveillance system, diagnosing technical issues and building targeted solutions to enhance government services.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with health departments through onboarding, migration, and troubleshooting, learning their infrastructure and data flows firsthand
• Diagnose technical blockers and build necessary solutions to integrate jurisdictions onto the platform without forking the core product
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify patterns and improve the product based on jurisdiction-specific needs

Required qualifications

• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Docker)
• Proficient in SQL and familiar with CI/CD best practices
• Health IT or public health data experience, such as HL7 or disease surveillance systems
• Ability to produce high-quality code by adhering to good practices such as automated testing
• Experience working on cross-functional teams in iterative delivery
