Senior Health Insurance Underwriter

Job Summary

Serving as a subject matter expert in underwriting, the fully remote Senior Health Insurance Underwriter will oversee underwriting activities for self-funded health plans and ASO clients, providing strategic guidance on new business, renewals, and risk assessment while mentoring junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Lead underwriting activities for new business and renewals, ensuring profitability and operational excellence
• Advise and mentor junior underwriters, fostering professional development and consistency in underwriting practices
• Analyze claims data and develop financial projections, renewal recommendations, and pricing strategies for ASO clients

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
• 5+ years of underwriting experience with self-funded health plans, ASO administration, or stop-loss insurance
• Strong knowledge of medical claims analysis and stop-loss underwriting principles
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
