Senior Integration Developer

Job Summary

Seeking a remote Senior Integration Developer, this full-time position will architect and optimize secure, event-driven workflows using Java and Apache Kafka, supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs Telehealth and Scheduling services.

Key responsibilities:

• Architect and engineer high-throughput event-streaming topologies to ensure real-time synchronization across the Scheduling Event Bus
• Lead the development of complex data fabrics and cloud-native microservices, optimizing performance and resolving concurrency issues
• Mentor junior developers, establish engineering patterns, and contribute to SAFe Agile practices and technical roadmaps

Required qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise backend software engineering or integration architecture
• Deep expertise in Java development, Spring Boot, and Apache Kafka performance tuning
• Proven ability to design fault-tolerant event-driven architectures and resilient processing workflows
• Experience with cloud-native microservices and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline; a master's degree is preferred
