Job Summary
Leading the design and implementation of health information exchange architectures, the full-time Senior Interoperability Architect will ensure secure data interoperability across VA/VHA systems and external networks while providing governance and optimization support for clinical informatics and enterprise modernization.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise interoperability architectures, including HL7, FHIR APIs, and eHealth Exchange frameworks
- Conduct technical assessments, gap analyses, and solution design to align with regulatory standards and PWS goals
- Oversee the development and deployment of interoperable solutions, troubleshooting complex issues in production environments
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field (Master's preferred for BPA1)
- 8-12+ years of experience in health IT interoperability architecture, preferably in VA/VHA or federal healthcare settings
- Expertise in EHR systems, API management, cloud technologies, and interoperability standards/tools
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, SAFe (Architect/Agilist), or HL7/FHIR are highly desired
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and delivering high-quality solutions under federal contract requirements
