Senior Java API Engineer

Job Summary

To support a dynamic consulting environment, the remote contract-to-hire Senior Java API Engineer will maintain and enhance Java-based REST APIs for mobile applications, develop new backend features, and troubleshoot production issues while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance Java-based REST APIs supporting native iOS and Android applications
• Develop new backend features and integrations, ensuring system reliability and performance
• Collaborate with mobile developers and stakeholders to deliver technical solutions aligned with business requirements

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on Java backend development
• Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs in enterprise environments
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted applications, preferably in Microsoft Azure
• Experience with the Micronaut framework or similar modern Java frameworks like Spring Boot
