Job Summary
To support the Khan Academy Kids team in designing and launching new products for young learners, the part-time Senior Legal Counsel, CA Licensed will provide legal guidance on product development, privacy compliance, and international regulatory matters in a remote capacity.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal partner to the Khan Kids team, providing regulatory guidance on new features and products
- Provide product counseling throughout the development cycle, focusing on privacy-by-design and age-appropriate data practices
- Draft and review legal documents, including terms of service and privacy policies, for Khan Kids products
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of legal practice experience with a focus on consumer-facing products in global markets
- JD or LLM from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in a U.S. state bar association
- Deep experience in privacy compliance for consumer products, including COPPA and GDPR
- Expertise in children's privacy and international regulatory landscapes
- Proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable product guidance
