Job Summary
Seeking a full-time Senior Linux System Administrator to lead IT infrastructure efforts at the Office of Advanced Molecular Detection (OAMD) at the CDC, focusing on Linux system administration, infrastructure management, and security compliance in a hybrid remote setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the administration of Linux environments and manage virtualized environments using tools like VMware and Proxmox
- Oversee the installation and management of software core services, utilizing Ansible and scripting for automation
- Ensure comprehensive system security and compliance while mentoring junior administrators in best practices and scripting
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration, with at least 3 years in a senior role
- Minimum RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification or equivalent
- Intermediate experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and scripting languages including Bash, Python, PERL, and Ruby
- Basic knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Podman
