Senior Linux System Engineer
Job Summary
To ensure optimal performance and security of hosting platforms, the full-time Senior Linux System Engineer will manage complex server issues, oversee Linux server administration, and develop automation scripts in a remote setup.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the final escalation point for complex server, hosting, and network-related issues while diagnosing and resolving critical system failures
- Manage and optimize Linux-based hosting environments, administering web servers and databases, and building servers from the ground up
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for server provisioning and utilize tools for automating infrastructure deployments
Required qualifications
- 11+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience in a web hosting or cloud environment
- 7+ years of experience in a Senior position or Level 3 Engineer role
- Expert knowledge of KVM and Libvirt, along with web hosting technologies such as cPanel, Plesk, and LAMP/LEMP stacks
- Strong scripting ability in Perl, Bash, and Python, with experience in configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Networking expertise, including knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and Firewalls
