Senior Linux Systems Engineer
Job Summary
To support mission-critical scientific systems for the U.S. Geological Survey, the full-time Senior Linux Systems Engineer will administer and troubleshoot Linux-based infrastructure while collaborating across technical domains in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support Linux-based production and development environments
- Investigate and resolve system and application issues through comprehensive analysis of logs, configurations, and performance data
- Perform root-cause analysis of technical problems and escalate issues as necessary to relevant specialists
Required qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in Linux systems administration, preferably in enterprise environments
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and conduct root-cause analysis
- Experience with system maintenance, patching, and operational support
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals and relational databases
- High school diploma or equivalent, with the ability to meet Government Public Trust requirements
