Senior Manager, Data Platform Engineering
Job Summary
Leading a team of 6-10 engineers, the full-time Senior Manager, Data Platform Engineering will oversee the development and operation of core platform services within a cloud-native environment, focusing on delivery, team growth, and technical direction, while working flexibly in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, grow, and develop a team of software engineers, managing hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance
- Own end-to-end delivery for the team's domain, setting priorities and ensuring commitments are met from design through production operation
- Establish reliability and scalability of services, implementing SLOs and driving down incidents across various environments
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in building production software with substantial hands-on experience in distributed systems and Kubernetes
- 5+ years of experience managing software engineers with a proven track record in team development and delivery
- Experience with major hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their core services
- Strong knowledge of containers, CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code
- Ability to communicate technical risks and trade-offs effectively to both engineers and senior leadership
