Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

To support the design development of reactor structures and components, the remote contract Senior Mechanical Engineer will create design solutions, prepare and review Design Specifications and Reports in accordance with ASME Section III requirements, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance and optimize performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed design, analysis, and documentation for ASME Section III Class HB and/or Section VIII division 2 vessels
• Develop and maintain design specifications, calculations, and qualification reports in compliance with ASME and nuclear codes
• Collaborate with internal quality teams and regulatory bodies to support audits, design reviews, and code certification processes

Required qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university
• Minimum of six years of equipment/component design experience, or ten years with relevant M.S. degree credited as two years of experience
• Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Proficiency in finite element stress analysis and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools, particularly ANSYS
• Working knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III and/or VIII division 2
