Senior Medical Records Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare team, the full-time Senior Medical Records Coder will review and assign diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while working in a hybrid remote/on-campus environment.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews and assigns diagnostic and procedural codes based on medical record documentation according to correct coding principles
• Performs medical billing tasks, including abstracting patient data and coding diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT codes
• Conducts charge review and claim edits daily to ensure timely and accurate billing

Required qualifications

• Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Five years of experience in medical record abstraction and coding
• Accreditation from a professional coding organization (e.g., AHIMA, AAPC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS)
• In-depth understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• High school diploma or GED is required
