Senior Mortgage Underwriter

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Senior Mortgage Underwriter will review and re-underwrite pre-funded and post-closing files for credit quality, provide management summaries with feedback on loans, and assess risk associated with transactions while ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews and re-underwrites mortgage files for adherence to credit policies and investor guidelines
• Provides written feedback and recommendations on loans reviewed, identifying training needs and trends
• Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to maintain customer service quality and loan integrity

Required qualifications

• 5-8 years of related experience in mortgage underwriting
• Conventional underwriting experience; FHA/VA designation preferred
• Thorough knowledge of underwriting policies and agency requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Strong analytical problem-solving and negotiation skills
