To drive high-stakes editorial decisions and maintain journalistic excellence, the full-time Senior News Editor will oversee the U.S. news desk, rewrite competitive national stories, and engage in hands-on reporting while working remotely or in a hybrid model from NYC.

Key Responsibilities

• Run the U.S. news desk during peak hours, making final decisions on story framing and prioritization
• Deliver high-quality edits and rewrites on competitive national stories, ensuring clarity and analytical depth
• Act as a desk reporter when necessary, confirming facts and addressing high-stakes stories directly

Required Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of experience in a high-level U.S. digital newsroom
• Demonstrated record of editing breaking news and enterprise reporting under tight deadlines
• Exceptional news judgment and first-rate rewriting skills
• Proven ability to handle sensitive and legally complex stories
• Deep understanding of U.S. political, legal, and cultural dynamics
