Senior Ontology Engineer
Job Summary
To support the AI, ML, and Data Science team, the full-time Senior Ontology Engineer will design and maintain formal ontological architectures for cross-organizational data alignment, working remotely while collaborating with domain experts and technical teammates.
Key responsibilities
- Design and maintain ontologies covering canonical structures and source data, ensuring alignment and consistency
- Establish mappings from trading partner data to the canonical ontology with documented provenance and validity conditions
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the ontological architecture meets transactional, clinical, and analytical requirements
Required qualifications
- Over 4 years of experience in knowledge engineering or ontology development
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining domain ontologies using Protege or equivalent
- Expertise in SPARQL and/or Cypher for querying ontology-aligned data stores
- Proficiency in Python or similar for ontology tooling and data analysis
- Experience directing or evaluating LLM-assisted knowledge extraction pipelines with formal validation requirements
