Senior Ontology Engineer
Job Summary
To support a U.S. Department of War customer, the full-time Senior Ontology Engineer will design and maintain enterprise ontologies and knowledge graphs while managing the ingestion of technical documents and developing generative AI applications in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain the enterprise ontology and controlled vocabularies, mapping source-system data into them
- Build and manage the knowledge graph, including RDF triple store and SPARQL queries
- Develop the governed ingestion path for extracted content and connect the graph to retrieval and generative AI applications
Required qualifications
- Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance required
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with semantic technologies: OWL, RDF/Turtle, SHACL, and SPARQL
- Experience building ontologies aligned with upper ontologies BFO and CCO
- Production experience with triple stores such as Apache Jena/Fuseki or RDF4J
- Solid software engineering skills in Python, APIs, and AWS, with the ability to handle full-stack tasks
