Senior Optical Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Senior Optical Engineer to support exploration missions with optical engineering expertise for spaceflight instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and review optical designs for laser altimeters and lidar systems, providing feedback on performance and manufacturability
• Lead structural, thermal, and optical performance analyses and produce associated deliverables
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and engage in project meetings to discuss methods, results, and team coordination

Required Qualifications

• Experience in optical design of spaceflight instruments and lidar systems
• Expertise in optical analysis, tolerancing, and STOP analysis
• Knowledge of optical materials selection for spaceflight environments
• Proven ability to lead optical design and related technical activities
• MS degree in Optical Engineering or equivalent experience
