Senior Optical Network Engineer

Job Summary

To support the growth of an advanced optical transport network, the full-time Senior Optical Network Engineer will design, engineer, and mentor on ROADM-based DWDM and OTN technologies while collaborating with network architecture to ensure a scalable and reliable infrastructure, all in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and plan optical link engineering and DWDM topologies, ensuring alignment with the IP/MPLS core network
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, developing multi-year optical capacity roadmaps and leading vendor evaluations
• Commission and turn up optical systems, validate performance metrics, and coordinate with third-party providers for successful deployment

Required qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of five years of network engineering experience, including three years in DWDM and optical transport
• Strong knowledge of IP/MPLS networking protocols such as BGP, IS-IS, or OSPF
• Hands-on experience with major optical transport platforms and optical test equipment
• Proficiency in reading technical documents and excellent troubleshooting skills
