Senior Outpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To ensure accurate and timely coding of medical records, the full-time Senior Outpatient Coding Specialist will assign ICD-10 diagnoses, CPT-4 procedure codes, and modifiers for complex outpatient encounters, working remotely while maintaining coding quality and productivity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical coding subject matter expert, analyzing and evaluating outpatient documentation for accurate code assignment
• Identify and assign ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes for various specialties, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
• Monitor daily work to facilitate billing processes and maintain established productivity and accuracy rates

Required qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
• Proficiency in coding guidelines and standards, particularly ICD-10 and CPT-4
• Experience with coding and EHR software (e.g., EPIC, 3M HDM)
• Knowledge of NCCI edits, NCD & LCD requirements, and payer guidelines
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and prioritize workload effectively
