Senior Payments Engineer

Job Summary

Building and operating payment systems, the full-time Senior Payments Engineer will design, implement, and maintain cloud-native payment applications and integrations, ensuring secure handling of payment data and compliance with industry standards while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable payment applications and services across various payment methods
• Implement integrations with major payment gateways and manage APIs for transaction processes
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead post-incident reviews to enhance system reliability and performance

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on payment systems
• Hands-on experience with major payment gateways such as Adyen, CyberSource, or Stripe
• Proficiency in a modern backend language like Java, Kotlin, Python, or Go
• Working knowledge of PCI DSS, tokenization, and secure handling of payment data
