Senior Payments Strategy Consultant

Job Summary

Providing strategic guidance and execution support, the Senior Payments Strategy Consultant will work remotely on a 6-month contract to establish a new merchant services relationship with a commercial bank, focusing on debit card acceptance and future credit card integration.

Key responsibilities

• Define the target operating model and lead key workstreams with internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure the merchant services relationship is structured to maintain optionality for future direct relationships with payment gateways and processors
• Support the execution of strategies related to merchant acquiring, bank sponsorship, and compliance with card network rules

Required qualifications

• 15-20 years of experience in payments, with a minimum of 7 years required
• Deep knowledge of merchant acquiring and bank sponsorship
• Experience with gateway/processor integrations
• Familiarity with PCI, risk/compliance, and operating model design
• Understanding of vendor and contract strategy related to payments
