Senior Performance Engineer

Job Summary

Focused on enhancing product performance with large healthcare datasets, the full-time Senior Performance Engineer will conduct performance investigations, design data architecture changes, and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize user experiences in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own performance investigations across the product and data stack to identify root causes and implement production improvements
• Design and evaluate data architecture changes while partnering with engineers to optimize product behavior
• Measure query latency, throughput, and infrastructure consumption, assessing the impact of upstream dataset changes

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in building and optimizing production data systems or analytical products
• Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or another programming language
• Experience optimizing analytical workloads in column-oriented databases or data warehouses
• Ability to diagnose performance problems using query plans, profiling, and benchmarks
• A hypothesis-driven approach to performance work, connecting technical efforts to user outcomes
