Senior Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the implementation of a new API gateway platform, the remote Senior Platform Engineer will manage the phased migration of approximately 255 APIs while ensuring dual-run operations with existing systems and compliance with government protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and integrate the new API gateway platform in IRS-approved environments upon Government authorization
• Develop and execute a phased API Migration Wave Plan, including inventory, classification, and sequencing of APIs
• Validate functional, connectivity, regression, security, and performance requirements for each migrated API wave

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with enterprise API gateway platforms such as Kong, Apigee, or IBM API Connect
• Proven API migration experience, including inventory, wave planning, and dual-run operations
• Knowledge of API authentication, authorization, and Zero Trust principles
• Experience with IBM webMethods API Gateway or comparable systems is highly preferred
• Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required
