Senior Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Senior Platform Engineer to work remotely, who will design and automate Thrivent's API gateway and event streaming platform using Terraform, AWS, and Datadog, while driving DevSecOps practices and optimizing enterprise REST services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions that align with broader software engineering strategies
• Develop core software independently and collaboratively, ensuring stability and scalability
• Coach junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years of experience in engineering environments with a strong understanding of SDLC practices
• Expertise in AWS, Terraform, and Kafka, along with API gateways and event streaming
• Proficient in debugging code and analyzing complex log files for troubleshooting
• Experience with version control practices and systems design concepts for security and stability
