Senior Platform Engineer

Job Summary

To support media activities at National Geographic, the full-time remote Senior Platform Engineer will manage the design and maintenance of digital asset management systems, provide technical support for media production workflows, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Media Technology Team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the design, development, and support of digital asset management platform components and automation routines
• Oversee technical administration duties for the digital asset management system, including software upgrades and incident management
• Provide technical and architectural direction to software developers and collaborate with management to enhance work processes

Required qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in data-rich digital environments, particularly with cloud platforms
• Knowledge of digital asset management systems and digital media operations, including ingest and distribution workflows
• Experience with scripting and automation in SaaS/PaaS/IaaS environments using APIs
• Familiarity with information security concepts and IT service management processes
• Proficiency in developing applications using Python and/or NodeJS, including automated testing
