Senior Platform Engineer

Job Summary

To support the IRS Enterprise API Gateway Modernization and Operations effort, the full-time Senior Platform Engineer will lead technical resources for configuration, troubleshooting, and engineering support of the Enterprise API Gateway, migrating from legacy systems to a new platform.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the lead technical resource for configuration, troubleshooting, and engineering support of the Enterprise API Gateway across various environments
• Design and implement API-side configuration changes, including routes, policies, and plugins within approved architecture and security boundaries
• Provide technical leadership for phased API migration execution and support platform currency activities such as runtime upgrades and component updates

Required qualifications

• 7 years of experience in a similar role with enterprise API gateway products
• Experience with platforms such as Google Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft Anypoint, or comparable API gateway products
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
• Preferred MBI certification
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required, with the ability to obtain IRS Minimum Background Investigation security clearance
