Senior Principal Machine Learning Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the design and delivery of end-to-end ML/AI systems, the full-time Senior Principal Machine Learning Engineer will define technical strategy, drive cross-functional alignment, and develop scalable ML solutions to enhance payment accuracy and quality outcomes, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Define system architecture for AI/LLM-powered products and build evaluation frameworks aligned to accuracy and regulatory risk
• Drive the data flywheel by converting expert decisions into high-quality labeled data and fine-tuning models for improved detection precision
• Mentor senior engineers and elevate organization-wide standards in ML craftsmanship and system design

Required qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Operations Research
• 12+ years of industry experience building production ML systems at scale
• Deep expertise in LLM evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation, or large-scale classification
• Proficiency in Python, SQL at scale, and distributed pipeline tooling
• Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment across engineering, product, and analytics teams
