Senior Program Officer, REDD+ Development

Job Summary

To support the growth of jurisdictional REDD+ programs, the remote Lead or Senior Program Officer, REDD+ Development will manage improvements to VCS Program REDD+ methodologies, engage stakeholders in capacity building, and collaborate on forest carbon outreach initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and implement improvements to VCS Program REDD+ and JNR methodologies through stakeholder engagement
• Support the maintenance and alignment of Verra's consolidated REDD methodology with the JNR Framework
• Collaborate with the Communications and Engagement Team to develop outreach strategies and capacity building sessions

Required qualifications

• In-depth understanding of jurisdictional and project REDD+, including relevant stakeholders and sector evolution
• Technical knowledge of environmental and social standards, particularly VCS and JNR Framework methodologies
• Familiarity with climate change mitigation, GHG accounting, and forest carbon methodologies
• Degree in environmental science, environmental studies, forestry, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• At least five years of professional experience in climate change mitigation or carbon markets
