Senior Python Engineer

Job Summary

To support the development of a robust sports data platform, the remote contract Senior Python Engineer will design, build, and maintain Python services for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data reliability and correctness.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python services for sports data ingestion and distribution
• Integrate with third-party sports data providers and manage differences in data formats
• Improve data validation, monitoring, and system observability while investigating production issues

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of strong production experience with Python
• Solid experience with Django and asynchronous programming (asyncio)
• Production experience with Apache Kafka and relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and data pipelines
• A senior ownership mindset with the ability to make pragmatic technical decisions
