Senior Python Engineer

Job Summary

To support the core systems behind a sports data platform, the remote contract Senior Python Engineer will design, build, and maintain Python services for data ingestion and distribution, ensuring data correctness and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python services for sports data ingestion, transformation, and distribution
• Integrate with third-party sports data providers, managing differences in models and formats
• Improve data validation, monitoring, and system observability while investigating production issues

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of strong production experience with Python
• Solid experience with Django and asynchronous programming (asyncio)
• Production experience with Apache Kafka and strong SQL skills, particularly with PostgreSQL
• Experience integrating with external APIs and third-party data providers
• Ability to reason about data correctness and edge cases in production systems
