Job Summary

Focused on advancing AI safety research, the full-time Senior Research Engineer will lead projects in detecting deception, preventing catastrophic misuse, and accelerating research through high-performance computing, with opportunities for remote work and collaboration across international teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects on detecting and mitigating deceptive behavior in AI models
• Apply research insights to identify and address vulnerabilities in frontier AI systems
• Develop frameworks and infrastructure to enhance research capabilities and accelerate experimentation

Required qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience with evidence from prior work or open-source contributions
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or JAX
• Experience with high-performance computing, including cluster orchestrators like Kubernetes or SLURM
• Technical leadership experience in designing large-scale software systems or managing small teams
• Strong foundational knowledge in linear algebra, calculus, vector probability, and statistics
