Senior Researcher in Civil Safety

Job Summary

To advance detection sciences and resilience technologies, the full-time Senior Researcher in Civil Safety will conduct horizon scanning for novel AI-enabled hazards, investigate next-generation detection methodologies, and analyze biosphere-scale vulnerabilities, all while working remotely with occasional travel for technical discussions and demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct structured horizon-scanning for novel AI-enabled hazard classes and develop rigorous threat assessment methodologies
• Investigate next-generation detection sciences and pursue feasibility analyses on deep resilience capacities
• Analyze biosphere-scale vulnerabilities and identify technologies that enhance safety and transparency

Required Qualifications

• 1 MS preferred) in a hard-science or engineering discipline with breadth across multiple natural sciences
• 5+ years of relevant research or applied experience with a track record of running independent projects
• Demonstrated ability to reason about hazards lacking robust historical data or detection paradigms
• Strong publication record or equivalent body of work on technological risk, resilience, or detection science
• Substantive familiarity with adversarial environments and reasoning in security studies or related fields
