Job Summary
To support reactor safety and licensing work, the contract Senior Safety Methods Engineer will develop and qualify thermal-hydraulic analysis methods, perform system-level analyses, and collaborate across disciplines, with the flexibility for remote work for exceptional non-local candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Develop methods for Licensing Basis Events (LBE) analyses to support reactor design and licensing
- Perform steady-state and transient system-level analyses, assessing model performance and fidelity needs
- Document methodologies and collaborate to integrate thermal hydraulic methods with design and safety analysis workflows
Required qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
- 3+ years of experience in system-level thermal hydraulic modeling and method development for nuclear or complex energy systems
- Experience with thermal hydraulic analysis tools such as RELAP5 3D, GOTHIC, or SAS
- Strong foundation in thermal fluids and reactor system behavior, particularly in advanced reactor designs
- Familiarity with scientific programming and workflow automation (Python, MATLAB)
