Job Summary
Seeking a full-time Senior Scientist II Air Quality Modeling, this remote position will manage complex research projects at the intersection of air quality, environmental public health, and science-to-policy engagement while serving as a Principal Investigator and Branch Lead within the Environmental Modeling and Engineering Branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of a strategic research portfolio in air quality and oversee grant-funded projects as Principal Investigator
- Supervise staff, providing mentorship and support for their professional development while fostering a collaborative team environment
- Engage in fundraising efforts and represent the organization externally as an expert in air quality through publications and presentations
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in atmospheric science, chemistry, engineering, or a related field, with a recognized record in air quality science
- Senior Scientist I: Minimum 3+ years post-doctoral experience; Senior Scientist II: Minimum 5+ years with demonstrated strategic leadership
- Proven experience leading funded research and engaging with regulators and community stakeholders
- Deep expertise in air quality modeling and experience with emissions inventory tools and large environmental datasets
- Excellent communication skills and experience supervising staff across multiple career levels
