Senior Scientist in Plasma Physics

Job Summary

Bringing deep theoretical and simulation expertise in laser-plasma interaction, the full-time Senior Scientist in Plasma Physics will provide support for beam smoothing projects, coordinate laser beam requirements, and contribute to the physics roadmap for fusion energy, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Provide theoretical and simulation support on the beam smoothing project
• Coordinate laser beam requirements, including design and beam port specifications
• Support the physics roadmap in collaboration with diagnostics and other teams

Required qualifications

• PhD in plasma physics or an equivalent field
• 10+ years of post-doc or staff scientist experience
• Strong theoretical and simulation knowledge of beam smoothing techniques
• Excellent programming skills for High-Performance Computing (HPC) in C++ and/or Python
• Strong mathematical background, including linear algebra and numerical modeling
