Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Job Summary

To support the platform serving Wikipedia, the full-time remote Senior Site Reliability Engineer will manage operational tasks, implement configuration management tools, and lead continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with product teams and participating in on-call rotations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational/DevOps tasks on Wikimedia's public-facing infrastructure, including deployment and troubleshooting
• Implement and utilize configuration management and deployment tools such as Puppet and Kubernetes
• Collaborate with product teams to design scalable services and participate in incident response and follow-up on system outages

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role
• Proficiency in shell scripting and languages like Python, as well as experience with configuration management tools like Puppet
• Strong Linux system-level troubleshooting skills and experience with distributed caching systems
• History of automating tasks and identifying process gaps
• Experience leading incident response and conducting root cause analysis
