Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

To build Alpaca's algo trading platform, the full-time remote Senior Software Engineer will design and architect high-performance brokerage services, writing extensive code and making critical decisions to enhance user experience.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and develop the algo trading platform to ensure high quality and performance
• Make critical architectural decisions and optimize for low latency and high throughput
• Collaborate with a small team to implement robust concurrency systems and scalable distributed architectures

Required qualifications:

• Previous software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems
• Proficiency in low and high-level programming languages such as C/C++, Go, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python
• Experience with messaging queues and message brokers
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, and system design
• Experience in developing Order Management Systems (OMS) and Risk Management Systems (RMS)
