Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Focused on evolving GitHub's open source design system, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will collaborate with a diverse team to design, prototype, implement, and ship high-quality user experiences using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and ship scalable technical solutions primarily in React and JavaScript
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to enhance team capabilities and promote design system contributions
• Write architecture briefs and proposals to guide the design system's technical health and growth

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering or a related technical discipline, with proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, C++, or Python
• 4+ years of experience specifically in JavaScript/React
• 3+ years of experience writing accessible HTML in accordance with WCAG standards
• 2+ years of experience contributing to or maintaining a UI component library or design system
• Experience in providing technical leadership is preferred
