Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Supporting the modernization and integration of the Department of Veterans Affairs' Veteran Experience Services platform, the remote Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that enhance Veteran eligibility determination processes and ensure secure data exchange between enterprise systems.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain VES software products and integrations
• Establish and support interfaces for transmitting service-connected disability updates between systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with program objectives

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience with legacy VA technologies, specifically MUMPS/VistA
• Proficiency in Java development, including Java 17+, JSP, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot
• Experience with Oracle Database and Oracle WebLogic Application Server
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile/Scrum practices
