Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

To drive the future of learning, the remote Senior Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable back-end systems and APIs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the McGraw Hill Connect platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable, secure back-end systems and APIs for web and mobile applications
• Translate technical designs and product requirements into high-quality, maintainable software solutions
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver robust platform functionality

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
• 5+ years of applicable experience in software engineering or back-end development
• Strong experience with server-side programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, or Go
• Experience in designing and developing REST APIs and working with microservices
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
