Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

To enhance Confluent Cloud's AI capabilities, the full-time Staff Software Engineer will design and build backend services for real-time data processing, ensuring high reliability and quality while collaborating across teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and implement backend services in Go, Java, and Python for AI and model inference on streaming data
• Own features end-to-end, from drafting designs to aligning stakeholders and driving decisions
• Ensure the quality of deliverables through code reviews, documentation, and operational reliability

Required qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in designing and operating distributed systems or cloud-native backend infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and distributed-systems patterns
• Proficiency in at least one of Go, Java, or Python, with a willingness to work across all three
• Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and aligning diverse stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting design documents
