Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Excited to enhance the developer experience, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will design, implement, and ship features for the Temporal server while solving distributed systems challenges and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement features for the Temporal server, addressing challenges in task matching, scheduling, and workflow execution
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to build scalable technical solutions and improve server reliability and operability
• Participate in design discussions and code reviews, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a high-quality codebase

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in building and operating production distributed systems
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, concurrency, and fault tolerance
• Experience writing concurrent code in languages such as Go or Java at an advanced level
• Proven background in developing high-scale backend services, including task queues and workflow engines
• Experience with open source software or communities is a plus
