Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Joining a small, AI-native team, the full-time Senior Software Engineer will design, build, and manage core banking systems, vendor integrations, and operational tooling in a remote setting, directly influencing the launch and growth of Affirm's bank.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end development and operation of the bank's core technical systems, including cloud infrastructure and data platforms
• Enhance team effectiveness by setting code review standards and improving documentation practices
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure that systems meet regulatory requirements from the outset

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of ownership through launch and operations
• Experience in regulated environments such as banking, payments, or healthcare
• Strong systems thinking skills across public cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and a drive to leverage them for improved outcomes
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-engineering stakeholders
